Our region experienced in 1944 one of the greatest military exploits in history: the landing at UTAH BEACH of two American divisions preceded by a massive parachute drop on SAINTE MERE EGLISE and the vicinity. Although peace has long since returned the memory has stayed alive.
This is the ideal country for stock breeding and marine culture and we are fortunate in our protected environment, the architectural beauty of our buildings and the tranquillity of our country life. We are also fortunate in the quality of our farm produce, the abundance of seafood, the availability of beaches and, wherever you go in our region, produce from our cattle and horse breeding farms.
